Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about becoming a driving instructor

How much does ADI training cost?

Training costs vary depending on how many lessons you need for each part. On average, expect to invest £2,000-£4,000 for complete training from start to qualification. This includes lessons, test fees, and study materials. Contact us for a personalized quote based on your current skill level.

Can I train part-time while working?

Yes! Most of our trainee instructors keep their current jobs while training. We offer flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends. You can progress at your own pace, taking as long as you need to complete each part. Many trainees complete their qualification within 12-18 months while working full-time.

What's the pass rate for ADI tests?

National pass rates are approximately 50% for Part 1, 45% for Part 2, and 40% for Part 3. However, with proper training and preparation, your chances are much higher. Our trainees typically achieve above-average pass rates because we ensure you're fully prepared before attempting each test.

How much can I earn as a driving instructor?

Earnings vary based on how many hours you work and your rates. Full-time instructors typically earn £30,000-£40,000 per year, with experienced instructors in high-demand areas earning £45,000+. Part-time instructors can earn £15,000-£25,000. You set your own rates and schedule, so your income is largely in your control.

Do I need my own car for training?

No, you can use our dual-controlled training vehicle for all your lessons and tests. Once qualified, you'll need your own dual-controlled car to teach students. We can advise on purchasing or leasing suitable vehicles when you're ready to start teaching.

What support do you offer after qualification?

We provide ongoing support including advice on setting up your business, marketing strategies, finding your first students, pricing guidance, and continued professional development. You're not alone after qualifying – we're here to help you build a successful driving instruction business.
